FOOT PAIN ?

I think I have medium-high arches and have been experiencing pain in my right foot on the outside of my heel on the edge, so not exactly in the bottom of the hill or in the middle of it but on the outer edge of the heel. It's not painful when I'm sleeping/sitting, but when I try to stretch my foot,turn it a certain way, or step the wrong way,I feel this extreme tearing pain.Same when I straighten my leg and lift the foot towards me.Since I have high arches I don't know if I should be wearing shoes with arch support or without,and what could possibly be causing this pain. What exactly could be damaged within the foot?
