Swelling after toenail removal ?

I fell a week and a half ago and it caused my big toenail to be pushed most of the way off. I went to a UTC and they took the entire nail off since it was barely on. I also messed up my knee pretty bad during the fall, so an xray was taken, but nothing was broken. I had some swelling the first week, but it wasn't that bad. As of last night, from my knee down to my toes is swelling bad. My toe is looking much better and I have stopped using Neosporin. My knee has several bruises and it is sore, but I am healing. I don't understand why the swelling has gotten so bad a week and a half after the fall. I have been on antibiotic since the fall as well and elevate my leg as much as possible. I also apply ice on and off at night.

Hard to say without seeing it, but as it could be a spreading infection, you probably should get to the Dr.
