What might be causing my morning foot pain?

Every morning when I wake up and during long periods of inactivity (i.e., sitting on the couch)I have issues putting weight on my left foot. As soon as I put pressure on my foot I have significant pain/discomfort and am unable to bend it. Typically, it takes a couple of hours before my foot is stretched out enough to walk comfortably. During these periods of discomfort I tend to walk on my heal. I have done some research and am unable to find anything that closely resembles my condition. I have no warts or existing injuries. Is there anything that you can think of?
