Why does my arch keep cracking? It hurts :( ?

The arch (or what little tiny bit of it there is) of my right foot keeps cracking frequently and I don't mean the skin. Whatever joint is there in the middle of that arch keeps cracking; just like you can your knuckles. It's not pleasant when it happens and is causing my foot a lot of pain. I do wear orthotics. Any insight to this, please? If you need to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer as accurately as I can.

Thank you so very much!

Thats a tuff one.
A true cracking or cavitation of a joint (esp the knuckles) is not really known why and there is not a lot can be done for that. See some videos here: http://podiapaedia.org/wiki/orthopaedics/cracking-joints/
The other possibility is a tendon 'snapping' over a bony prominence, but that is also difficult as you can't really stop a tendon moving.
