Metatarsal problems following shoe lift ?

History: I have worn Birkenstocks for over 20 years without foot problems. I love them. As a result of a recurrent hip bursitis I was diagnosed 9 months ago with one leg 9/16-inch shorter than the other. I had a 1/2-inch full sole lift added to the sole of all my shoes on the short leg side. This has completely relieved the bursitis which is on the long leg side. However, starting last summer I have developed metatarsal problems in the foot with the shoe lift. I consulted with a podiatrist who told me my toes on that foot are curling too far and causing the problems; he thought the shoes might be too big. My feet measure as the same size. And I have no problems in the foot without the shoe lift.
Question: The sole of the shoe with the lift is not flexible like the other shoe. When walking I do not feel a bend at the ball of that foot with any pushing from the ball. I'm thinking that to compensate the toes on the side with the lift have taken over the push effort. Could that explain my problems? If so, other than getting only a heel lift--which will leave one foot walking at a different angle than the other--is there any other solution to my difficulty?

Whether sixty or sixteenchina tours, there is in every human being's heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beautychina travel, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you young.
