What causes red painful itching feet?

This does not happen all of the time. It first started with just the toes and a little of the foot-top and bottom. Now it is both feet from the ankles down. The itching and burning starts first then becomes very intense and my feet turn very red. This happend last night and I was going crazy with the burning and itching. I do not have athletes foot, I do not have a clue. This only started about 5 months ago and I have been taking benadryl, but it makes me very sleepy. I do have Reynauds of the hands, but they do not do these things
