New toe pain 3 months after injury ?

Hello. My big toe was stepped on while playing softball about 3 months ago. The nail lifted up a little, but is still attached. It is very black and blue and it is starting to curl a little as it is growing in. I haven't had any pain in the toe for few months, but within the last week it has started to hurt again. Today, it is the worst the pain has been. The toenail is very tender to the touch near the cuticle, and it radiates to the right side of the toe.

It doesn't seem to be swollen and there isn't much redness. It just feels like the bruise is brand new. It's more of an off and on sharp pain every 15-30 minutes rather than a constant throbbing.

Any thoughts?

DocPod 		Without seeing it, its going to be hard to say. However, it is not uncommon for a damaged nail to become ingrown as it grows out due to the altered shape of the nail. Suggest you get someone to look at it.
