A lot will depend on what is causing it to be painful (if it is painful) and what caused it (there are a number of causes). Insoles or foot orthotics can help if the pain is due to pressure on the bottom of the foot. Better fitting shoes can help if the pain is on the top of the foot. Wedges can help if the pain is on the outside of the ankle joint. Surgery can also be used to lower the arch.
