Weil osteotomy worth it?

I want some advice on what I was told by my podiatrist. I have a pain in my forefoot that has been going on fro several years and nothing that has been tried really seems to help. She suggested surgery and we talked about a procedure called the weil osteotomy. I fel confident inwhat she was telling me, but then became concerned about seeing some information on the web about the procedure being controversial.

Does anyone have any insights?

DocPod 		This can be a positive and negative of the internet. You can find more on your condition, but you can also find more misinformation about your condition as well.

The Weil Osteotomy is a good procedure for the right conditions. There can be a high complication rate if it is done for teh wrong condition or post-operative instructions are not carefully followed. I think a lot of ther porblems in the past with the Weil Osteotomy was becasue it was overused and used a lot when another procedure should have been used. I am not seeing many problems with it these days.

You are best discussing your concerns with the surgeon.
