During walk stepped up out of ditch, had sharp, stinging pain in instep and now painful to walk. ?

Went for normal walk, stepped up out of ditch, instant sharp, stinging pain in L foot used to "push up" with. Was able to walk home but in definite pain which seemed to involve the whole L foot. Had Achilles tendon surgery three years ago...tendon was totally worn through by tendonitis after of years of mistreatment. Halix flexor tendon from under L great toe was used to replace the damaged tendon. Is it possible that using that particular flexor tendon de-stabilized my foot causing strain on other tendons...hence the stinging pain in my instep. Is it possible I've torn another tendon?

It sound very much like you have possibly torn another tendon. Without something like an ultrasound or MRI its not going to be possible to tell. I can not tell much more from what you described. you really need to get it checked out.

As your FHL tendon was moved to repair the achilles, yous foot biomechanics would have been altered, especially the stabilising function of that tendon on the big toe.
