Footpain - "corrective podiatry", "relive pain naturally" etc....are these people legitimate?

I went in search of a podiatrist after suffering pain in one foot for an extended period. I booked into the first place i found in the local directory. I arrived to find myself in a natural corrective podiatry centre as opposed to the "run of the mill" podiatrist i was expecting.
After three visits i have been given "the plan" which involves me visiting very regularly (initially 4 times a week) for at least 6 months. Obviously the costs for such a plan are very high and if i pay up-front, i can save a fair chunk (although the cost is still close to $1500 AUD). I don't have lots of money to flash around, so before i head down this path, i thought i would look for some advice from other experts or people who have been through this treatment.
