Swollen Foot ?

A few months ago I was running through Petsmart to pick up my dogs from grooming. As I made my way to the grooming parlor, I felt a sharp pain in my left foot. I ended up limping back to the car after getting my dogs. I'm not limping, but its swollen and theres pain. My foot is not broken. I'm wondering if its sprained or could a small fracture cause swelling? Maybe there is something out of place in my foot. I'm a transplant recipient and my doctor told me to wait it out cause he feels its a small fracture that will heal on its own and he did not want to expose me to any amount of radiation. Is there anything I can do to bring the swelling down and the pain?

It unlikely ot be a fracture as you would not be able to walk on it. Its probably strain. Use ice to help with the swelling and pain.
