Wearing two orthotics at once to run?

On the transition from 15 years of hard orthotics to soft orthotics, I quickly developed achilles tendonitis. In a fit of frustration, layered my old hard orthotics on top of the new soft ones and the problem is resolving. Can I look forward to any future injuries from this orthotics overkill or would I be better off reverting to my hard orthotics only as I didn't really have any problems with them in the first place (other than developing a neuroma, more likely the result of other shoes I was wearing).

I would say if you had good results with hard orthotics then keep using those and get better shoes.
