Try using topical anti-inflammatory gel. Get some inserts for your shoes.

Here are some things to do that will help alleviate the problem. However, if you already have a bone spur ( which is most likely), there is nothing you can do to completely relieve the pain.

Exercises will help. Get a tennis or gold ball and roll the ball around with the arch part of your foot. This will help break up scar tissue and make your muscles more flexible in the foot so when you get out of bed, the muscles won't be as tight which means it won't be as painful.

Secondly, get an arch support. Many inserts have a really good arch support. this helps keep the plantar fascia from getting stretched and as a result relieves the pain you experience.

Third, While I don't know if they work or not, I did see some Plantar fascia devices in skymall magazine on an airplane. I think you can order from www.skymall.com. Here si the link to just one of the products.

I hope this helps. I wish you the best

Buy a roll of guaze and wrap your foot snugly (almost tight) from the arch of your foot over the top of your foot back around about 4 or 5 times and secure it with tape.
Believe me when I tell you this will give you relief. Vicodin is a bad choice of pain relievers for this condition. What you really need is some Naproxen such as 220 mg 2 tabs every 12 hours or take Ibuprophen 800 mg every 6 hours. The podiatrist or your doctor will be ordering a medrol dose pak and these OTC drugs for the inflammation caused by the irritated fascia in your foot. He may also order Anaprox for it.
Vicodin will not relieve your pain.
Also, the doctor will be ordering orthotics for your shoes. He will measure your foot and make casts of your feet for these. I didnt find the orthotics to be very helpful, and they cost a lot of money.
