I think I have plantar fasciitis. Any suggestions?

I wake up with foot pain in my arch near the heel which subsides as the morning goes on. Sometimes my foot hurts all day, sometimes not. What works?

If rest and time do not work, then shoe inserts from a podiatrist will probably help. Do not get the cheap ones! A podiatrist gave me $250 yellow plastic ones that were useless. He could not even figure out how to adjust them. I went to another podiatrist and have one made of superglass. No adjustment needed.

First off, get good shoes with GREAT support. No heels or flats all day. You need good arch support. I use a golf ball to put pressure on the sore spots. If that is too painful, use a tennis ball. Ice and ibuprofen will help with inflammation. I have tried everything in the book, with the exception of cortisone shots. I have tried the tricks I have mentioned, trained my husband to massage the fascia and even get the best shoes I could buy. I have had plantar fasciitis for more than 3 years. I finally found something that seems to be working, slowly though. If you believe in it, try Chiropractic. Without going in to too much detail, I had x-rays done of my spine and realized that the nerves that go to my feet were being "pinched". I now have been getting regular adjustments 2-3 times a week and have noticed a significant change, I also got a new job that I don't have to stand all day. Try one or more of these options and you should see improvement.
